GROWING SINCE 1930

Our beginnings date back to the 1930s, when Bernardo Hernández Blázquez, founder of BEHER, began to market the first Iberian homemade products.

In the 1970s , Bernardo Hernández García, the founder’s son, took over. He made BEHER grow exponentially and internationalize the brand due to the earliest exports. At that time, the autochthonous pig breeding was included in the company, where the genetic selection implemented from the beginning has become the key to achieve the current excellence of our products.

Since the change of century and the arrival of the third generation, with Bernardo and Jorge Hernández Tinoco in charge, BEHER has already become an established and known worldwide company that controls the whole production process, from the pig’s breeding to the elaboration and ripening, ending with the valuing and sale of our Iberian products, due to a huge distribution network and to our shops and restaurants distributed among Spain and Portugal.

Nowadays, the new generation is there. In BEHER, we are faithfully taking a chance on the quality and authenticity of our products, where the digital environment, innovation and technology make us keep working hard to respond to the current times and the market demands and preferences.

1930

In the 1930s, Bernardo Hernández Blánquez began to sell the first ripened and handmade products in Guijuelo.

1970

In the 1970s, after years of continued growing, his son, Bernardo Hernández, take over and decide to include the Iberian pig’s breeding to increase the value of their business.

2000

Since the change of century, BEHER has evolved from a small business into a huge family-owned company nationally and internationally known, headed by the third generation with Bernardo y Jorge Hernández Tinoco in charge.

2020

The world never stops and neither does BEHER. BEHER’s fourth generation is currently working to lead the future industry, adapted to the latest technologies and business trend.

Currently, we own several farms distributed among Spain and Portugal, with more than 3 000 reproductive mothers and 70 males, all of them pure Iberian, as well as our own insemination centre.

Bernardo Hernández began the Iberian pork sales adventure to other countries more than 40 years ago, with the earliest sales in European countries and countries from the current EU.

The export to countries outside the European Union began in 1960 with the first business in South America. Nowadays, BEHER has representation in more than 50 countries from the five the continents.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

In BEHER we are proud of the quality of our product, which we made with persistence and lots of care. This is evidenced by the countless awards and the acknowledgement we have received during this professional path.

Among all of them, we would highlight the IFFA Fair awards, the most important event of the meat industry celebrated every three years in Frankfurt (Germany), where we have renewed the certificate of the highest quality product in every edition internationally since 2001, both in ham and cold meat categories. We have received 130 medals so far, including gold, silver and bronze.

Also considered as remarkable awards could be the best Bellota Ham in Castilla y León in 2013, 2016 and 2018, the National Award of the Ham Salon, the Gold Medal in SUFFA Fair (Stuttgart), La Posada from El Mundo newspaper Award to the Best Corporate Project in Salamanca’s province in 2019 or the one for the Best Packaging in the LiderPack Awards.

However, there is no doubt that the most important acknowledgement is knowing that, behind all these awards and medals, lies, a long history of tenacity, sacrifice and hard work by the entire BEHER family.

Bernardo Hernández S.L. ha sido beneficiaria del Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional cuyo objetivo es mejorar la competitividad de las Pymes y gracias al cual ha podido acometer dos actuaciones de gran calado: 1) Digitalización del proceso de transformación dentro del plan estratégico de Industria 4.0, con el objetivo de mejorar la trazabilidad de las materias primas y los productos elaborados. 2) Elaboración del Plan de Marketing Digital Internacional con el objetivo de mejorar el posicionamiento online en mercados exteriores.
